Most elementary and some middle school students don't have email addresses and their parents may not want them to have one. Google Docs is an easy-to-use online word processor, spreadsheet and presentation editor that enables you and your students to create, store and share instantly and securely, and collaborate online in real time. You can create new documents from scratch or upload existing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. There's no software to download, and all your work is stored safely online and can be accessed from any computer.
Google Forms is a great tool and I hope to use it more throughout this year. Take a look here for a more detailed introduction and guide to using and creating a Google Form - this was written prior to Google bringing forms into the NEW menu.
I have created example forms for each of the different topics, follow the links in each of the ten sections. With help from a Googler I have included a link so that you can get your own copy of the form - click on the appropriate link and it should open in your docs home.
Precipitate lets you search for and launch the information you have stored in the cloud from within Spotlight or Google Desktop for Mac. It currently supports the following services:
* Google Docs
* Google Bookmarks
* Picasa Web Albums
The spreadsheet program Excel can be used to make large posters made up of standard sized paper. This may work with other spreadsheet programs (e.g. OpenOffice) but since I've had good results with Excel, I haven't tested that yet. Let me know if you have other ways to do this, with spreadsheets or other programs.
